Breaches of the model Work Health and Safety legislation can mean up to $600,000 fines and/or 5 years jail personally and up to $3 million for corporation for Reckless Conduct.
Training and safety go hand in hand. This accredited OHS Harmonisation training will help you understand the legal rights and responsibilities you carry and what is involved in taking ‘reasonable practicable’ steps to exercise due diligence. Our OHS Harmonisation courses are nationally recognised and accredited with learning outcomes mapped against relevant material in the government audited Vocational Education and Training Framework. Whilst you could, and should, attend free courses or workshops to familiarise yourself with the OHS Harmonisation changes, this type of attendance may not be sufficient to ensure you are taking all reasonable steps to exercise due diligence.
Remember, whilst you can’t always control the actions of others, you can control yours. In the event of the scrutiny of a regulator or prosecutor, under the model legislation it will be up to the prosecution to prove a breach by evaluating the steps taken (by an individual or corporation) against what is deemed ‘reasonably practicable’ in the circumstances. Undertaking this accredited training course is an important step towards understanding these requirements.
