What is HSR Training?

On January 1, 2012 the new Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011 came in to play. The course is intended to assist HSRs and deputy HSRs understand how the WHS legislation will influence health and safety outcomes in their workplace. The HSR training course aims to familiarise participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their role as Health and Safety Representatives.

  • The roles of Trade Unions and WHS entry permit holders

What are the pre-requisites?

Participants must provide evidence that they have completed a previous state based 4-day OHS Consultation course such as the NSW WorkCover course in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Consultation for the 1-day Gap Course. There are no pre-requesites for the 5-day course. For the Comcare, all HSR’s must complete the 5-day training if they were elected post January 1, 2012.

What is the qualification?

A Certificate of Attendance on successful completion helps demonstrate an employee approach to duty of care requirements as well as health & safety management.

Where is the training held?

We run public courses and in-house training courses. If you have more than 6 HSRs it is cost effective to run the course onsite.
