Australian meat producers’ reputations of being safe and ecologically friendly are being underpinned by the sacrifices of globalization. US beef bureaucrats and trade lawyers have asked/threatened legal action to allow American beef into the Australian market. Australian farmers have worked hard to eliminate tuberculosis, scrapie, BSE, and mad cow diseases and has earned the clean image it deserves. By allowing countries to import their beef products who have lower quality and safety standards to as a sacrifice to globalization will have disastrous consequences for farming families and beef consuming customers.
