David Jones Ltd. may have made a settlement offer to a former employee who filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company, its board and former Chief Executive Officer Mark McInnes, the Sun-Herald reported today without saying where it got the information.
David Jones may have offered Kristy Fraser-Kirk less than A$1 million, the newspaper said. Fraser-Kirk was seeking punitive damages worth at least A$37 million, according to Bloomberg calculations based on a claim filed Aug 2. in the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney.
McInnes denies many of the allegations made by Fraser-Kirk and will vigorously defend himself, the Sun-Herald said, citing an interview with McInnes. He resigned from David Jones on June 18 citing “unbecoming” behavior.
