Food safety training – your responsibilities
As a food handler, it is your legal responsibility to maintain food safety in the workplace.
This means understanding all policies and procedures in your workplace, food safety hazards and prrinciples for safe food handling.
You need to understand the risks, follow specific safe food handling practices and take action to correct or report any unsafe practices.
It is also your responsibility to carry out duties to monitor food handling.
Customers rely on food staff to provide food which is safe to eat.

When you follow workplace hygiene rules, you will be complying with food laws. These laws place great responsibility on anyone handling food in a food business. These laws along with basic food hygiene training ensure that food remains safe and suitable for customers to eat.
