What types of food businesses are affected?

Any business serving and selling food in NSW needs to have at least one Food Safety Supervisor on staff trained. This includes B&Bs, cafe’s, delicatessens, hotel/motel operations, kiosks, licensed clubs, pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

What are the penalties for not training by October 1st?

Businesses will be fined $660 & be given a notice to complete the training. Ignorance of the requirement is not accepted as a valid excuse. Please note that council inspectors / NSW Food Authority authorities will be out in force and are looking to fine non-compliant food businesses.
