Course approach

AlertForce uses instructors who have worked in the industry to deliver training that is relevant, up to date and most importantly keeps you and your workmates safe. This training is recommended for all elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs under the WHS Act 2011 who have requested approved training to gain an understanding of the management of WHS under WHS legislation and their role as a HSR. For the purposes of section 72 (1) of the WHS Act 2011, a HSR is entitled to attend the following courses of training in work health and safety with a provider of their choice: - an initial course of training of 5 days; - 1 day’s refresher training each year, with the entitlement to the first refresher training commencing 1 year after the initial training. Note: If you have already completed the 5 day Health And Safety Representative (HSR) training course you are entitled to attend the 1 day Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher training course.

Class

Learn on your premises or at a location convenient to you. Public and private courses cater for up to 20 participants per class; private courses may be tailored to your organisation. Courses generally run from 8:00am to 4pm during business days, with weekend options available in some areas.

Our 50-50 mix of theory and practical units all draw on recognised adult learning principles, with participants given clear demonstrations and the chance to replicate key actions. All you need to get started is a good command of English, and enthusiasm to look after safety in your workplace.

A 1-day refresher program is available for HSR’s who have previously completed training. An initial 5-day program is required for all new entrants and recommended for HSRs who have not done any training within the last 5 years. To be eligible for the training, you must produce evidence that you have completed a 5-day training course.

    If you have questions, we have got answers and solutions for you! In the rare case where we don’t have an answer for you we will be able to find out for you very quickly. We are about servicing you as our valued client.

    Does AlertForce issue a HSR license?

    AlertForce is a Registered Training Organisation, regulated by ASQA (RTO Code 91826). This training is not nationally recognised. Your ability to act as a HSR is given after you successfully complete the initial 5-day course.

    Do you deliver onsite training?

    We train from Sydney to Alice Springs to Darwin to Perth. So let us know your
    location and we can travel to you. Normally you need approximately 8-10 people 
    to make this a viable option.

    How long does it take to issue a your certification?

    Allow 7-10 days from the time of your training if it is a private or public course. Ofcourse if you have a special job or requirement and it is a private course we will always do our best to ensure that you get your compliance needs met. No certificates are released before payment is made in full.

    I have lost my certification how do I get another copy?

    You can obtain another copy of your certification at no cost by sending an email to service@alertforce.com.au and including your full name, date of birth, and date your training was undertaken. Allow 7-10 working days for a reissue.

    Are copies of the WHS Act available?

    Each participant is provided with their own hardcopy of the WHS Act.

    What happens if special circumstances prevent me from attending all of the 5 days in the initial course, consecutively?

    If you miss a day or more of the training, you have up to six months to complete it. You should contact AlertForce as soon as possible to reschedule. If the training is not completed within 6 months, a certificate cannot be issued.

    Do I need to pay upfront for the HSR training?

    Yes - either upfront or, if sponsored by an employer, a purchase order must be received before your enrolment can be confirmed in a course. This is to ensure that your certificate can be issued within 10 working days after you complete.
