A new self-contained mobile unit called the Cylinder Response Unit (CRU) has been organized for as quick response solution for sea transport emergencies. This includes over packing of materials and routine mitigation. Clean Harbors, a leading provider in environmental, energy and industrial services has designed the CRU to be a self contained unit with its own laboratory, which is able to hydrolyse chemicals and remove cylinders, gases, and handle hazardous materials. The laboratory also includes its own generators, sampling equipment, and waste lines. The main objective of the CRU is to be deployed on short notices and immediately process and if necessary, dispose hazardous materials in a simple and efficient manner. The unit is compatible for tractor-trailers and sea containers.
