Fertilizer plant billionaire and Perth socialite Pankaj and wife Radhika Oswal have opened a environmentally friendly, vegetarian restaurant called Otarian in New York and London.The restaurant itself has used recycled materials and the food is sourced and prepared using as few carbon emissions as possible. 98% of all waste has been recycled. Each item on the menu has a energy emission rating. The restaurant also compares the carbon foot print for the menus meat counterpart (eg a veggie burger vs beef burger) and have stated that some meals have saved 3kg of carbon emissions. The restaurant has attracted Hollywood celebrities to their opening including Vanessa Williams and Mary Kate Olsen. The Oswals are also know back in Perth to have banned all construction workers eating meat on their property while their mansion is being constructed.
