As an employee you should know how alcohol and drugs impair judgement, and affect work performance and safety for everyone. How alcohol and drugs impair judgement
Proper judgement requires the ability to think clearly.
Alcohol and other drugs act on the brain to produce altered perception and attitude.
A person affected by alcohol or other drugs will lack the ability to perform the required connections between action and consequence.
Some drugs can slow the apparent passing of time making reaction times longer .
Other drugs can make you anxious and dangerously over react to a situation that ordinarily could be handled in a calm safe manner.
Alcohol and drugs cause an increase in impulsive behaviours with tendencies to take more risks and create confusion within the user.
Safe work requires a clear and level head. The use of alcohol and drugs can severely affect your ability to perceive risks and act accordingly.
You may need to complete an alcohol and drug awareness program (drug alcohol training) at your workplace.
