Why Should You Attend WHS Courses?

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, which was eventually succeeded by the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Act, outlines specific safety requirements designed to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and accidents.

Under the WHS Act, employees may be legally required to complete nationally recognised training courses before carrying out certain work activities. Whether you are a WHS manager, HSR, worker, or person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU), you may need to complete one or more safety courses through an approved training centre.

Explore Our Selection of WHS Courses

AlertForce offers safety training for a variety of potentially hazardous work activities. Here is a closer look at our courses.

Silica Awareness

AlertForce are Australia’s leading specialist RTO delivering Silica Awareness training nationally. We deliver the Nationally Recognised 10830NAT Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention in multiple Australian states face to face or via webinar. AlertForce offer maximum flexibility, the most experienced trainers and a breadth of experience to give you the best operational outcomes.

Asbestos Awareness

Any work that may involve contact with asbestos or asbestos-containing materials requires asbestos awareness training. The 11084NAT course (previously 10675NAT) fulfils these requirements. Our course covers best practices for detecting and identifying asbestos, helping to reduce exposure to harmful materials.

Working with Asbestos / Asbestos Removal

AlertForce offer specialist Nationally Recognised courses for electricians (11348NAT) to meet industry standards to courses that offer pathways through to licensing such as Non-Friable, Friable, Supervisor and Assessor training. Get in contact to learn more

Working at Heights

AlertForce offer Nationally Recognised Heights courses in our Sydney and Canberra industrial training centres. We also offer onsite practical heights training (subject to your worksite). Verification of competency validations and refresher training courses are available as well. All based on the National Unit of Competency for heights RIIWHS204E.

Confined Spaces

Learn proper confined space entry procedures with our confined spaces training course. We offer face-to-face confined spaces training to teach participants how to identify hazards before completing work in a confined space and how to use safety equipment.

Workplace Impairment

With the issue of Managing Psychosocial Hazards in the workplace becoming more prevalent and a requirement under WHS legislation, AlertForce offers Nationally Recognised training to help meet this and EBA agreement requirements with the 11339NAT Course in Workplace Impairment Prevention.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and how does it apply to WHS courses?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that evaluates your existing skills and experience, gained through work or other training, to determine if you meet the competencies of a specific WHS qualification. This allows eligible participants to fast-track their certification without repeating training they’ve already mastered.

Yes, many participants choose to bundle multiple WHS courses, such as Asbestos Awareness, Silica Awareness and Manual Handling, especially if they are required by their employer or industry. Bundled training may also qualify for a discount. Contact AlertForce to discuss customised training pathways.
The delivery format (online or face-to-face) often depends on your state’s legislation, your employer’s requirements, or the nature of the course. Some units, like Silica Awareness in the ACT, are only valid if completed face-to-face. Always verify with your employer or regulatory authority before enrolling.
Yes, AlertForce’s nationally available online courses are designed to serve remote, regional, and rural workers. As long as you have a stable internet connection and access to a device, you can complete most theoretical components from anywhere in Australia.

“Did a CPR refresher. Reminded me of the things I'd missed or forgotten about. Got it done and got out. Highly recommend. Of the 10 or so of these I've done, this is the first that actually felt like a useful refresher and not just trying to stay awake to check the boxes.”

“Excellent course, I'm saying this because unless like most courses that are just plain boring. This course was run By Matt who I think is a great educator, he explains information in a way that's not just educational but also relevant to today's work practices, his insight and depth of knowledge shows his years on both subjects like asbestos and silica and how dangerous both can be, I'm now armed with the knowledge of how to treat these hazards and also how to prevent a problem that can be eliminated, I definitely recommend this course for anybody who wants to learn about asbestos and silica.”

I'm really grateful that I'm given another chance to do train and do the practical test again which I didn't pass on the first time. So that I'm prepared to use the forklift without making mistakes when I do get my licence as well as work using the forklift.”
