QLD Requirement
Under the WHS Act 2011 (QLD), PCBUs must eliminate or minimise risks arising from hazardous manual tasks so far as is reasonably practicable. WorkSafe Queensland expects employers to identify manual handling hazards, assess associated risks and implement suitable control measures to reduce the likelihood of workplace injuries.
Hazardous manual tasks may involve lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, holding or restraining loads where workers are exposed to repetitive movement, sustained force, awkward postures, vibration or high force. Training supports workers in understanding these risks and applying safe work practices that contribute to a safer workplace and improved WHS outcomes.
