The 11084NAT course in asbestos awareness, is the currently the most recognised training course for asbestos awareness training training. This replaces previous units such as 10675NAT and the 10314NAT standard for learning to identify asbestos.
AlertForce has an agreement with Keystone Tasmania whereby 50% of the cost of this course fee is available to be rebated to eligible construction industry participants. In a nutshell your building and construction related business needs to have an ABN and register with Keystone a minimum of 3 days prior to the training(if you have not previously done so).
What is the training requirement for asbestos awareness?
To satisfy the asbestos awareness training requirements, individuals must complete the 11084NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness. It is your responsibility as a PCBU to ensure that all of your workers have received this training from an approved training provider such as AlertForce (RTO 91826).
The only prerequisite for the 11084NAT course in Asbestos awareness is that the student must be able read, speak, and understand English.

How much does the 11084NAT course in Asbestos Awareness Training cost?
The price of the 11084NAT course in Asbestos awareness training course varies depending on the company that provides the course and region.In Tasmania, like most parts of Australia, the retail price is $227 person. Delivery can be made via webinar or face to face. Group rates can change. Up to 50% subsidy is also available for eligible participants of the building and construction industry.

Keystone Tasmania, the Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board, is established under the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Act 1990. Keystone Tasmania funds specified categories of training for eligible Tasmanian building and construction industry businesses.
Keystone Tasmania Construction Industry Training Fund allows some individuals to receive a refund. Individuals are required to apply for this refund. It is usually delivered after the course.

What will you learn by completing the 11084NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness?
The 11084NAT course in asbestos awareness (previously known as 10675NAT), is designed to teach workers how to identify asbestos. This course does not cover the removal or encapsulation asbestos.
The course covers asbestos identification, where it is most likely to occur, and materials that contain asbestos.
Asbestos is found in many older homes and buildings, including the insulation, tiles and wallboards. It is also present in flashing, cement, plaster and vinyl flooring.
Asbestos can also be found on elevator equipment, such as brake shoes. Cooling towers, ductwork, and electrical panel partitions are other areas where asbestos is found in older properties.
The course also explains how to deal with asbestos once it has been detected. Most asbestos must be reported and dealt by a qualified asbestos removal or encapsulation firm.
PCBUs, with the asbestos awareness training can ensure that the building site is safe for all individuals, including workers, contractors, and visitors.
What Accreditation will you receive?
After you have completed the 11084NAT course in Asbestos awareness, you will be assessed to determine whether you understand the information presented. You will receive a Nationally Recognised Certificate of Attainment if you pass the assessment.
Asbestos training is required for anyone entering a construction site. As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure that all workers have access to this course. The current course approved by ASQA is 11084NAT (previously 10675NAT). These courses are not offered online (although it is available via AlertForce in a Live Webinar format ie. face to screen). Webinar training must be approved via Access Canberra who are the course owner.
