What business sectors need Fire Warden and Fire Safety Training?
Every company that operates in Canberra should pay special attention to fire safety; however, different types of businesses, industries, and sectors have special fire risks and demands because of their activities and the number of people working for them and the characteristics of their premises.
Government and Public Sector Offices: Many of government institutions and public sector organisations are located in Canberra because it is the capital city of Australia. These workplaces are usually crowded and are characterised by compressed working spaces, therefore, proper and efficient evacuation procedures requires the fire wardens to undergo through proper training.
Educational Institutions: This has made it important for schools, colleges and universities to observe the aspect of fire safety in order to safeguard students, faculty and staff. Education and training of fire wardens becomes essential in these areas to ensure the proper and swift evacuation of large crowds, especially children and the less able.
Healthcare Facilities: Hospitals, clinics, and aged care homes have population that may require help in an emergency such as persons with disability. Fire wardens in such facilities require special training to handle unique conditions caused by the immobility or exigent status of patients or residents.
Retail and Hospitality: This is because shopping centres, hotels and restaurants have a large number of people visiting them coupled with complex layouts. Fire warden training in these environments provides the staff with skills in crowd management and how they can safely and orderly evacuate the patrons in case of a fire outbreak.
Industrial and Manufacturing: Manufacturing buildings such as factories, warehouses, and industrial production plants have more risks and often have machinery and other flammable materials stored in the buildings. It is in these settings that fire wardens have to be trained in handling particular risks, and the general management of emergencies.
Office Buildings: No matter the kind of industry, most offices require professional fire wardens in order to keep all the workers informed of evacuation drills and where to find fire fighting accessories.
