The Chain of Responsibility (COR) laws do not mandate training as a requirement. However, there are several reasons why training is still considered an essential step for complying with these laws.
The COR national laws are designed to ensure that everyone working in the transport supply chain complies with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL). The COR laws were also recently updated to align with the Work Health and Safety laws.
Due to the changes to the NHVR primary duty laws, getting updated training is recommended. In fact, it is considered essential.
Failure to comply with the COR laws may result in sharp penalties, including court-imposed fines up to $50,000.
The laws require everyone involved in the supply chain to take reasonable steps to prevent driver fatigue and other road safety issues that may lead to accidents.
If an accident occurs, employers and/or employees must demonstrate that all available steps were taken, including providing staff with an understanding of the laws.
The best way to demonstrate these laws is through the completion of chain of responsibility training.
Everyone must understand their role and responsibility. This includes drivers, managers, and directors. It also allows businesses to implement checks and balances to make proper decisions throughout the supply chain.
Chain of responsibility training is one of many training courses available to help employers and staff comply with work health and safety laws. The training can be completed online, offering a convenient way to ensure that everyone is aware of their responsibilities.
COR courses are available online through a nationally-recognised and qualified WHS training provider. These courses can also be completed face to face although many businesses in the marketplace prefer the convenience of online
The courses are self paced, making it easier for staff to finish the course. It is suited for schedulers, controllers, and directors, providing an overview of the chain of responsibility awareness.
COR training online is recommended for owners, drivers, and everyone involved in the transport process. As understanding of the legislation is helpful when completing fatigue management training units of competency.
The primary reason to complete the COR training courses is to provide your staff with a better understanding of their responsibilities under the COR laws.
These requirements apply to all states in Australia. If you work in Perth, you need chain of responsibility Perth training. The courses are based on the information provided by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and the various State/Territory Road Safety Authorities.
With this training, drivers learn how to comply with WHS and HVNL laws, including ignoring the pressure to ignore regulations to meet deadlines. COR awareness keeps your business in compliance with the laws and keeps your drivers safe.
The standard chain of responsibility training is available as an awareness program only for free and then move up to $497. Discounts are often available on the paid courses, especially when enrolling a large group of employees.
The courses cover a broad overview of the roles and responsibilities of all staff in the supply chain, including:
Everyone shares responsibility for complying with the COR laws. The primary goal of the course is to make sure that the staff understands their responsibilities and that they know how to take reasonable steps to prevent breaches of HVNL laws.
These laws include detailed regulations for avoiding driver fatigue and assessing the safety of transport based on mass, loading, dimension, and speed. Staff learns how to apply chain of responsibility legislation regulations and workplace procedures.
These courses are designed for employers and employees in every state and territory. With an online course the beauty is being able to access the information remotely. For example you may obtain the necessary chain of responsibility QLD training without needing to travel.
After completing the course, if nationally recognised competent participants will receive a statement of attainment. Employers and employees can use these certificates to demonstrate that they took reasonable steps to understand their responsibilities.
Chain of responsibility training online offers a most convenient way to fulfil COR and HVNL requirements and reduce the risk of breaches.
