- Your employer pays the mandatory Training Fund Levy on your projects.
If eligible, your course fee may be partially reimbursed. You or your employer will need to apply for the subsidy after completing the course.
How long is the certification valid?
The Silica Awareness certificate in most jurisdictions does not have a formal expiry date, but employers often require refresher training every 2–5 years to ensure knowledge remains current. Some regulatory bodies or worksites may specify their own renewal timeframes. In NSW, while refresher training is not legally mandated, it is strongly recommended — especially for workers regularly exposed to potential silica-containing materials.
