Fatigue and falling asleep are serious safety risks. If you are fatigued, your performance may become impaired. Your response times in critical situations may become slower. And your ability to get to and from work safely may be compromised.

Fatigue management training can help you avoid accidents and get home safely.

Sleep is one of the three major contributors to your health, along with cardiovascular fitness and nutrition. In fact, it is well documented that lack of sleep is associated with more frequent illness and poorer long term health.

When we sleep, our body and brain recover from imbalances that occur while we are awake. Our bodies are able to cope without sleep for some time but our brain suffers significant deterioration in performance if deprived for even a day.

Alertness, Memory and Coordination are all vital functions which are linked to the amount of sleep we get each day. Sleeping also helps the body repair from stress, injury and illness.

Your body’s natural rhythms are repeated approximately every 24 hours. They are called circadian rhythms or the internal body clock. This body clock affects your sleeping patterns, body temperature, digestion and hormone levels along with many other functions of the human body. Your body is designed to be awake during the daytime and asleep during the night. We are naturally diurnal, or active in the daytime. Your body functions in time with these natural rhythms. Body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and adrenalin levels all rise during the day and fall at night. This means that we are programmed for maximum activity during the daytime.

You can access fatigue management training or a basic fatigue management course online.
