Traffic control courses are required for implementing a traffic control plan and are typically completed by those who need to direct traffic at or around a worksite. IMDG code training covers applicable laws when dealing with the transport of dangerous goods.

What Are the Prerequisites for Health and Safety Courses Online?

The prerequisites vary depending on the course that you plan on enrolling in. However, most courses require participants to be at least 18 years of age. Some courses may also require relevant work experience. For example, before enrolling in training for supervising asbestos removal, supervisors need at least three years of experience.

Participants may also need to complete prerequisite courses. For example, white card training is a prerequisite for many OHS training courses related to safety practices for construction work. Safety training also typically requires participants to read and understand English and dress appropriately for the work environment.

Health and Safety Training Courses Duration and Content

The duration for most OHS courses is one full day of training. Refresher training tends to take one day or less. However, some courses are more extensive and require additional training.

For example, the initial course for HSR training lasts five days. The training is typically self-paced when completing health and safety courses online, such as the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Act Awareness course.

The content is based on the curriculum outlined for each unit of competency. All courses meet the requirements for relevant WHS laws and industry standards. Participants also receive access to pre-course materials immediately to aid training.

What Are the Course Outcomes for OHS Training?

The outcome of most courses is increased skills and knowledge related to the work activities covered by the training course. For example, after completing the working at heights course, participants should understand the potential hazards of working from tall heights, along with the recommended safety procedures and risk management techniques.

Many of the courses revolve around the same basic structure. Participants learn the dangers of performing specific activities before exploring ways to avoid those dangers, which typically starts with a risk assessment. After assessing the risk, workers apply the hierarchy of control measures to mitigate risks, which may involve altering the work activity or wearing personal protective equipment.

How to Attend Health and Safety Courses?

This course was run By Matt who I think is a great educator, he explains information in a way that's not just educational but also relevant to today's work practices, his insight and depth of knowledge shows his years on both subjects like asbestos and silica and how dangerous both can be, I'm now armed with the knowledge of how to treat these hazards and also how to prevent a problem that can be eliminated, I definitely recommend this course for anybody who wants to learn about asbestos and silica.”

“I'm really satisfied with the way the class was lead simple and easy to remember for the questions on the theory test. I'm really grateful that I'm given another chance to do train and do the practical test again which I didn't pass on the first time.
